- Summit and Zalis to Open Saturday 5/07/08 - Posted to JKH on SnowMore snow since the snowfall on Tuesday plus great snowmaking weather for the last few days and Perisher Blue expects to open their 'flagship' run Zalis tomorrow. Snowy Hydro logged 50cm snowdepth at Spencers Ck yesterday (Thursday). The 5pm radio news report also said Lower Rollercoaster may open. 18 lifts in all but you know some don't count for much but there is something open at the 4 main areas 'tho the areas aren't linked yet The weekend is expected to be pretty fine with more snowy weather early next week. So, what do you need to know? Fuel up in Bairnsdale (United is the cheapest). Billie's in Omeo is also open late for petrol, but Omeo is a long way from anywhere so fuel comes at a premium. They don't try and rip you off, it is expensive all year as they need to freight small quantities up..Another Hot Summer Coming? - Posted to World of Planks & SticksAccording to BOM (Bureau of Meteorology), we are in for another hot summer down south in Victoria, Australia. Lovely....not! Last summer, Melbourne experienced 8 days above 30 degrees in December, 9 days in January and 11 days in February. The hottest day last summer was at the record high of 42 degrees.
